Whether you’re a golf course superintendent, sports field manager, lawn care professional or homeowner passionate about your lawn, we’re here to keep you informed, inspired, and up to date.

Atlantic Canada’s diverse climate, ranging from the coastal breezes of Nova Scotia to the variable conditions of New Brunswick, sand bar life on Prince Edward Island, or the rock that is Newfoundland and Labrador, presents unique challenges and opportunities for turfgrass management. We’re launching this blog to tackle these challenges head-on, offering expert advice, industry news, and practical solutions designed specifically for our region.

What Can You Expect?

  • Insect and Disease Alerts: Timely information on pests and diseases that affect our region, like white grubs, chinch bugs, and dollar spot outbreaks.
  • Weather Updates: Insights into how our ever-changing Atlantic weather impacts turf health and how to prepare for it.
  • Industry News: Updates on new products, technology, and best practices in the turf management world.
  • Golf Course Highlights: Spotlights on local courses, maintenance practices, product evaluations and events happening in the Atlantic golf community.

We invite you to bookmark this page, share it with colleagues, and join the conversation by leaving comments or suggestions on topics you’d like us to cover.

Haughn Turf is also excited to launch our website to start 2025, and this blog hopefully keeps you returning. I hope to maintain weekly to biweekly updates on the blog which I do not think will be an issue, as I always find lots of interesting turf management topics to dive into through my travels and telephone. The website also features a disease and insect gallery of pictures ONLY taken from our region, all the services Haughn Turf offers, and much more.

Haughn Turf has been created after careers both in the field growing turf as a golf course superintendent, then switching to sales and building one of the most successful turf companies in the Maritime green industry.

Landscapes, sports fields, golf courses, and lawns are as popular as ever, and together, we drive their beauty, doing so with an environmentally friendly, scientific approach that is both affordable for the end user and profitable for your business.

You’ll notice that my company’s logo is a Turtle on a Fence Post. There is an African proverb that says, “If you ever see a turtle on a fence post, you know it didn’t get there by itself.” This conveys the idea that success, achievement, or progress is often the result of help or support from others. Just as a turtle couldn’t climb onto a fence post without assistance, people often don’t achieve significant milestones or reach their goals purely on their own efforts. This is true of Haughn Turf, where befriending countless industry experts and turf professionals over the past two decades has built a network of powerful turf knowledge and friendships. By helping each other in a fair and honest manner, everyone wins.

Let’s hope this is the start of a great journey. Thanks for reading.
